40 Years of Connecting Stories with Audience

Suraya was founded in 1983 by Mr. Ratnakrishnan, known in the industry as Mr. Balan. He wasn’t someone who chased the spotlight. Instead, he built the company through relationships—working closely with cinema operators, distributors, and producers across the region.
Over four decades, those relationships have matured into enduring partnerships with some of the region’s most respected distributors and exhibitors in Malaysia alongside a strong ecosystem of independent cinemas across Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Brunei. These alliances are not recent developments—they are the result of decades of consistency, mutual respect, and shared success.

  • Successfully produced and co-produced films with Indonesia and the Philippines.
  • Released films under Suraya Filem’s own banner in the Philippines and Vietnam, expanding regional presence.
  • Built an extensive distribution network across 10 ASEAN markets.
  • Distributed a wide slate of English, Thai, Indonesian, Indian (Hindi/Tamil/Telugu), and regional titles from 2023–2024.
